Marseille-based photographer Bechet Benjamin has captured superheroes, Disney characters and other popular figures as if they exist in our real world in a series titled ‘I am Winnie the Pooh’.
However, instead of being glorified, these characters—among them Spiderman, Batman and Hello Kitty—have been sidelined, reduced to having overlooked jobs.
This twist, Benjamin explains, is to stimulate reflection about how society may define the ‘self’ by comparing one’s job to another and to serve as a reminder that everyday heroes are present—even without costumes.
