Artists from Chinese creative studio Senseteam don’t throw their money around, instead they use currency from all around the world to put together a series of artworks.
Their work ‘Big Business 3’ resembles traditional embroidery patchworks in a multitude of faces.
Old currency is cut up into thin strips and then glued individually on canvas.
According to the artists, the portraits extend beyond just highlighting how an individual’s worth is reduced to their financial value in today’s consumerist world.
The use of international currency also aims to examine the flow of money and globalization.
“Currency symbolizes the value of a nation and its position in the world,” explain the designers.
“The ‘Big Business 3’ portraits reflect the subtle relationships and influences across money, desire, society, nations, and human beings.”
